We are thrilled to announce the online publication of an extensive compilation of psycholinguistic megastudies. This important resource, previously hosted on Professor Brysbaert’s website at https://crr.ugent.be (temporarily down for security reasons), is now again accessible to researchers, linguists, and language enthusiasts worldwide.

List of Psycholinguitic Megastudies

What Makes This Resource So Special?

The comprehensive list includes over 100 megastudies across 22 languages, from widely studied languages like English, Chinese, and French to less frequently researched languages such as Adyghe, Estonian, and Malay. Each entry provides crucial information including:

  • Primary researchers and publication year
  • Experimental paradigm (lexical decision, word naming, eye movement tracking, etc.)
  • Presentation modality (visual or auditory)
  • Sample size and word count
  • Direct links to the original data

Why Megastudies Matter

Psycholinguistic megastudies represent a revolutionary approach to language research, involving large-scale experiments with thousands—sometimes tens of thousands—of words. These extensive datasets allow researchers to:

  • Identify patterns across entire languages rather than small word samples
  • Test multiple psycholinguistic theories simultaneously
  • Discover previously undetected linguistic phenomena
  • Develop more accurate computational models of language processing

Special thanks to Professor Marc Brysbaert for his tireless work in compiling and maintaining this exceptional resource for the research community.
